RICHARD RUGGIERO | DUST
Thursday, May 17th - Sunday June 10th (Extended!)
Opening Night Reception | Thursday, May 17th, 6 -10pm
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
All are from Dust, and to Dust all return. This collection of over-sized acrylic on canvas pieces explores the literal interpretation of how beach sand is refined from water exposure along seascape settings, how our consumer goods can sit and collect dust over time, and the connection between our temporary time on this earth and the fleeting moments of even the most brutal of storms or peaceful sunsets. In capturing these seascapes, "Dust" aims to focus on embracing the beauty of the mundane.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Richard Ruggiero grew up in a large family in Toronto. As a child, Richard received private instruction from a local artist, Simone Grinberga. While working with Grinberga, Richard's passion for painting large landscapes with loose brushwork was born. Richard continued with formal fine arts training at Western University. Richard works along the shores of Lake Huron and gains inspiration from the oceans, lakes and rivers in Canada and makes every effort to explore water scenes throughout the world - most notably coastal cities in South Africa, South America, East Asia; particularly the island of Hokkaido in Japan and the mountain lakes in the Alps in Switzerland and northern Italy. Richard has previously put on the exhibition “Splash” in 2015 and “Blockparty” in 2016.
